Interfacing PC Keyboard

Description: Keyboards and keypads are widely used input devices being used in various electronics and embedded projects.

They are used to take inputs in the form of numbers and alphabets and fed the same into the system for further processing.

4*4 matrix keypad consist of set of push buttons which are interconnected like in our case 4*4 matrix keypad in which there are 4 push buttons in each of four rows.

The terminals of the push buttons are connected according to diagram
Matrix keypad are commonly used in calculator, telephones etc. which are a number input switches that are required

Matrix keypad can be connected to the micro-controller in numerous ways or techniques but the fundamental logic is some as making the columns as input and rows as output..

so in order to detect the key pressed from the keypad the row lines have to be made low one by one to read the columns.

16 wires arranged in 8 rows and 8 columns can connect 64 keys sufficient for a full octave of range 61 notes.
